The Children's Grief Charity

9 November 2026

Over the past 22 years, Grief Encounter has supported thousands of children and young people through some of the most difficult times in their lives. Founded by Dr Shelley Gilbert MBE, we began with a vision: to ensure no child has to face grief alone.

During the past year, we have taken time to reflect on how we can best fulfil that vision. We have listened to the families we support, as well as the schools, healthcare professionals and partners we work alongside. And the message has been clear. We need to make it as easy as possible for people to find us and immediately understand who we help.

This is a very special moment for us, made possible by the best team. We’re so proud to introduce our new identity: The Children’s Grief Charity.

Whilst our name and visual identity are changing, we remain the same organisation, with the same unwavering commitment to putting children and young people at the heart of everything we do. It’s their courage and resilience that inspire us every day to keep listening, learning and evolving.

As we move into this new chapter as The Children’s Grief Charity, we will continue to champion the needs of every grieving child, helping them to navigate their loss and look to the future with hope.
