An Exciting New Chapter

8 September 2026

More than 20 years ago, Grief Encounter was founded by Dr Shelley Gilbert MBE on a simple belief: that no child should have to face grief alone. That belief continues to guide everything we do today.

As our work has grown, so too has our understanding of how children and families experience grief. Over the past year, we have listened closely to the people we support and reflected on how our name and brand can better represent who we are today. That’s why we are proud to share that Grief Encounter is undergoing a rebrand and will soon become The Children’s Grief Charity.

While our name and visual identity are changing, we remain the same organisation, with the same purpose, values and commitment. Our new name simply makes clearer who we are here for and the support we provide.

This is an exciting new chapter, built on the same mission, care and expertise that have guided us for more than 20 years.

If you would like to discuss the change, our plans, or the impact your support continues to make, please do get in touch.

Thank you for being part of our journey and helping make this next chapter possible.
