A host of sporting legends, comedians, television personalities and corporate teams came together for London’s first-ever celebrity charity Padel Tournament. Together, they raised vital funds to enable the The Children’s Grief Charity to provide essential and free bereavement services to help more children, young people, and their families navigate the complexity of grief.
The high-energy tournament organised by the charity, and hosted by presenter and padel player Suzanne Baum, took place at The Padium in Canary Wharf. Teams were made up of staff from leading businesses, each joined by celebrity players, creating a dynamic mix of corporate backing and star talent on the courts.
The day began with an energising warm-up led by Joe Wicks (The Body Coach), before a glittering line-up of stars battled it out alongside their corporate teammates. Among those competing were Olympian Greg Rutherford, comedian Jason Manford, ex-Premier League footballers John Terry, Darren Bent, Henri Lansbury, Bobby Zamora, and Freddie Ljungberg, Traitors winner Harry Clark, and Sky Sports presenter Adam Smith.
Event host Suzanne Baum said:
“It was an absolute honour to be asked to host and present this amazing charity padel event today. To see so many celebrities and businesses come together to support a charity very close to my heart was incredibly heartwarming.”
Vicky Baruch, Head of Philanthropy & Special Events at The Children’s Grief Charity, added:
“The tournament has been about more than padel, it has been about standing together and alongside children and families who are grieving. At The Children’s Grief Charity, we are so grateful for the support and delighted by the impact the Celebrity Padel Tournament has had.”
