How we help
Young people and children need the right support at the right time to help process the complex mix of emotions that grief can bring.
We develop programmes of support that respond to each individual’s needs. Our therapies, resources and activities, events and workshops are designed to bring hope and healing. And our guidance for parents, carers and educational providers can offer much-needed advice, reassurance and support at a difficult time.

Who we help
The death of someone a family member or friend can trigger a bewildering flood of feelings that may remain unresolved without the right support.
Children and young people: We help them express what they are feeling and navigate the jumble of often conflicting emotions that grief can bring.
Parents and carers: We provide the confidence and tools they need to support their children through grief.
Schools and businesses: We equip schools with knowledge and guidance to support grieving students and staff, and help businesses support employees navigating grief.
If you need support or would like to know more about any of our services, call 0808 802 0111, weekdays 9am – 5pm, and speak to our Bereavement Support Team or email us.
The support we provide
The Children’s Grief Charity is here for grieving children and young people. Our specialist services are focused on providing support that’s right for them, at the moment they need it most, so that they and their families can process the anxiety, fear and isolation that comes with grief.
We offer
- Access to our Bereavement Support Team for immediate advice and general support
- One-to-one and group therapy sessions with specialist grief counsellors
- Age-appropriate resources, such as grief and memory workbooks,
- Residential weekends, fun workshops and events where grieving families can find mutual support and discover new experiences together
- Training for businesses and schools on how to support people after a bereavement
How we support schools
We help schools and teachers feel confident supporting grieving children and young people in the classroom. At The Children’s Grief Charity, we provide training, practical guidance and specialist bereavement support, giving staff the knowledge and tools to respond with understanding.
Since September 2026, updated statutory RSHE guidance in England has included grief and loss. We can help your school cover these topics sensitively and in age-appropriate ways, helping pupils understand grief, support one another and know where to turn for help.
Whether you are supporting a grieving pupil or developing your school’s approach to grief, we are here to help.
Download our school support pack or get in touch to discuss your school’s needs.
